Challenge

Instead of specific implementation requests, Fitstore24 approached Blackbit with a S.M.A.R.T.*) goal: to achieve a certain level of online sales by 2021. The management of Fitstore24 left the choice of means up to us and was completely open to technologies and platforms.*) SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Reasonable, Time-Bound.

Results

With its new setup, the Fitstore24 shop even made it into Testbild.de's ranking of the most promising online shops, "Trend Shop 2021." In the "Motor, Sports, and Outdoor" category, the sporting goods mail order company Fitstore24.com is right at the top. Testbild rated the technical quality of the shop as high and its growth as excellent.

The company

The bicycle and fitness retailer Fitstore24 operates a successful sports store in Tyrol and an online shop with an extensive range of bicycles, accessories, and many other products related to fitness, sports, and exercise.

The challenge: More sales

Targeted approach: Tyrolean bicycle and fitness retailer Fitstore24, which operates both a brick-and-mortar store and an online shop offering a wide range of bicycles, accessories, and other sports and fitness items, had a clear request for Blackbit: increase sales!

The solution: A powerful PIM system and innovative shopping features

To achieve and exceed the set goal, Blackbit optimized the user experience with an appealing new shop design, a responsive template, functional enhancements, and optimized content.

Comprehensive and helpful product information improves the visibility of the online offering in search engines and increases the conversion rate. Well-prepared product information plays a very important role in online retail in particular, due to the lack of advice from a salesperson. Blackbit therefore implemented a PIM system between merchandise management and the online shop.

The implementation: Optimized product information management – thanks to Pimcore

The fast and powerful PIM system, based on the flexible open source framework Pimcore, facilitates the structured maintenance of product information. Commercial data is imported from the merchandise management system into the PIM, where it is enriched with additional sales-promoting information. Special functions facilitate the mass editing of product properties: images, videos, and PDFs can be quickly prepared and conveniently linked to the products. Product attributes, such as various technical data, can be easily maintained and improve the user experience in the online shop through helpful filters and virtual product advisors.

A virtual advisor in the bicycle segment was implemented in the form of a frame configurator. This allows the online shop to offer its visitors an easy-to-use service that only requires the customer's stride length to determine their individual frame size. The shop then automatically displays the appropriate bikes available in the shop.

A web-based user interface can be operated conveniently from anywhere and, in times of coronavirus and working from home, opens up flexible options for work organization and collaboration. The processed data is automatically transferred from the PIM system to the shop system and the xt:Commerce content manager.

The result: The sales target was significantly exceeded.

Supported by a Google Ads campaign, the shop's sales were also successfully increased. As a result, the sales target set was significantly exceeded.

Useful functions offer a compelling shopping experience: With the Blackbit product
filter plugin, the Fitstore24 online shop gained targeted filter navigation that
quickly and accurately leads to the desired products: Anyone looking for the right
bike can easily narrow down the wide range of products to those relevant to them using filters based on criteria such as a specific brand or frame size.
Shop users can also combine several filter criteria.

All the time that customers save by shopping in a relaxed manner using filter navigation can be spent in the website's info center. There, visitors interested in sports will find a variety of content related to cycling, e-bikes, and fitness. A newly structured navigation and appealing design offer customers a contemporary, modern look and feel with intuitive and easy-to-use operation—even on mobile devices, of course.
