Blackbit Celebrates 10 Years of Christina!

Ten years ago, Germany became world champions - and Christina started her job at Blackbit. A lot has happened since then and we look back together on the occasion of her anniversary.

Blackbit congratulates Christina on her 10th anniversary!

Hi Christina! Thanks for joining our little series #loyaltothecore. This month we're celebrating your 10th anniversary at Blackbit. Congratulations on that! And let's start right away: Tell us something about yourself! How did you come to Blackbit and when exactly did you start with us? Do you remember what was trending at the time?
Thank you! I've been with Blackbit since June 1, 2014 and joined the company through the GÖtrain program. I can't remember what was trending at the time, but I do remember that the World Cup started and we became world champions shortly after I started at Blackbit.

What position did you start in back then? What training or special skills did you bring with you and what technology was current at the time?
I started as a trainee in ERP and controlling, at the time I had just graduated in mathematics with a minor in financial controlling.

What was your first impression when you started?
Very open and welcoming. I had a very pleasant first conversation and it was immediately clear to me that I would sign with Blackbit.

Has working in an agency always been your dream job? If so, what made you decide to take this path?
In fact, I never had Blackbit in mind as a potential employer, as it is not the typical way to start as a mathematician in an agency. But luckily Blackbit found me. 😊

Over the years, what have been the biggest changes for Blackbit, the industry and therefore also for you?
Phew, good question! There have certainly been a lot of changes in the last ten years. But the biggest change for me and my day-to-day work was the change of ERP system. But the new location in Kyiv at the time, with the financial regulations in Ukraine, which were still unknown to me, was also a new challenge. And let's not forget the coronavirus period and the associated switch to working 100% from home. That was probably the biggest change.

What made Blackbit attractive back then and what is special about our company for you today?
The team! The certainty that Blackbit is and will always be there for you, whether professionally or privately. Especially in the current development of the company, this is great to see, we are not just any employees, but a family that sticks together.

What opportunities did and do you have to develop professionally? How would you describe your personal development?
When I started at Blackbit, I was due to switch to the then new ERP system on July 1. I had to familiarize myself with the system quickly, but I was always given the time to attend training courses, whether in Vienna or digitally. And even today, you are given the space for further training and education if you want it.

What was your greatest professional success? Which project do you particularly remember? In the area of controlling and accounting, I don't think you can talk about THE biggest success. It's a huge success every year when the annual financial statements are completed. 😉
That's why I would actually consider my greatest personal success to be in the ERP area. We switched our ERP software to Business Central on December 1, 2022. I was primarily responsible for this and had to consider everything from the outset: which accounts, articles and resources we needed, how best to map our non-standard billing processes, the connection of vacation planning and the question of what optimization options the new program would offer us. Once the management had made the decision that BC would be our new ERP system, I had to familiarize myself quickly in order to formulate and work out our needs and requirements for the new software as precisely and accurately as possible.

After so many years - can you give us one or two tips that you have found groundbreaking, valuable or helpful over the years? No one can know everything or read the minds of others.

In conclusion: What was your favorite Blackbit moment?
My favorite Blackbit moment was our Christmas trip to the Harz Mountains. We had two great days and a very short night. It was great to see colleagues from other locations in person again and to talk and celebrate over a cold drink or two. 

Thank you for your time and commitment - now and in previous years. We are delighted to have you with us and wish you many more successes in the years to come - and one or two memorable Blackbit moments.
