Emre has been part of the Blackbit family for a proud ten years. We would like to congratulate her and take a look back at her time at Blackbit in this interview.
Hello Emre! First of all, we would like to congratulate you on ten years at Blackbit: Congratulations! We at Blackbit have now had long enough to get to know you, but for those who don't know you yet: How did you come to Blackbit and when did you start with us?
Gladly. My name is Emre Gül. I've been part of the Blackbit family since November 2013. I found Blackbit online, how could it be otherwise, and applied straight away.
Do you remember what was trending at the time?
Not many people today might remember the trends of 2013: Jar dishes in restaurants, WhatsApp and, above all, selfies, selfies everywhere were hip.
Yes, I remember that. Fortunately, selfies are (almost) a thing of the past. What position did you start in back then? And what training did you have?
I've actually always been in sales and customer service. I started out as a hotel manager, then worked in a software company and finally settled down at Blackbit.
What was your first impression?
Very positive!
Has working in an agency always been your dream job? If so, what made you choose this path?
I was always open to new opportunities and wouldn't have wanted to limit myself to one type of company. But the atmosphere and the projects at Blackbit fascinated me right from the start. I couldn't resist and thought I simply had to work here.
Over the years, what have been the biggest changes for Blackbit, the industry and therefore also for you?
I actually found the coronavirus period the most difficult. It has affected all industries and sectors - and us too, of course.
Oh yes, far away from all the technology we surround ourselves with, a virus turned everything upside down. Fortunately, that's over now! Can you still say what made Blackbit so attractive to you back then? And perhaps also what is special about our company for you today?
Cohesion, open and honest communication and feedback - including with our management - these are not just buzzwords, they are actually practised. One for all and all for one, in the past as well as today.
What opportunities did and do you have in your job to develop yourself? How would you describe your personal development?
You never stop learning. People are constantly evolving and are never really out of the learning phase. That's great and at Blackbit we have made this human ability one of our core values.
Enough about the company, back to you and your work: What has been your greatest professional success? Which project do you particularly remember?
All our projects are special because they are simply different every time. It's always great to be able to accompany and support customers on their journey. Each project develops its own dynamic, trust grows and in the end we have created something great together. That's a great feeling and a success for me every time.
After so many years - can you give us one or two tips that you have found groundbreaking and helpful over the years?
Always treat people the way you would like to be treated.
The categorical imperative, great! Finally, something for the heart: What was your favourite Blackbit moment?
The best moments are our annual "family reunions". I really missed them during the coronavirus period and I hope we never have to do without them again.
Thank you for your time and your frank words, Emre. And thank you for being with us. Have fun and continue to be successful with us, and we'll see you at the next team event at the latest! 😊
