Stefan always provides colorful variety among the mostly black Blackbit hoodies in the office - and thus makes a statement for a more colorful society. In this interview, we get to know the always cheerful Pimcore developer better.
Hi Stefan! Nice to meet you for a chat and get to know you a little better. You're in Backend Development with us - what exactly do you do? How would you describe your job with us?
From the outside, some people are probably wondering whether I'm a data wizard. I could at least imagine that it looks like magic to some customers when their ideas and requirements are implemented exactly as they had imagined. However, the real magic is in the development of solutions, which I take care of on a daily basis. What can sometimes be described in one sentence needs to be analyzed from different perspectives. This is the only way a solution will ultimately become part of a high-quality project realization.
Can you tell us something about yourself? What makes you stand out?
I'm structured, tidy and rarely make the same mistake a second time. Apart from that, I like it colorful - by that I don't just mean brightly colored sweaters and T-shirts, but also colorful company. I appreciate good conversations with friends in the kitchen at least as much as watching the sunset in Madeira - in both cases with an Aperol Spritz in my hand.
What training do you have and what professional experience did you already have before Blackbit?
My training is that of a classic IT specialist for application development. And before I came to Blackbit, I mainly worked with TYPO3 (backend) and WordPress (frontend). It wasn't until my job at Blackbit that I decided to focus entirely on backend development. Since then, my focus has been on Pimcore and digital asset management.
How did you find your way to us?
My former colleague (best regards to Silke K.) from the time of my apprenticeship was already working at Blackbit about 20 years ago and fortunately gave me the tip.
Which applications do you work with in your daily tasks?
PhpStorm is a powerful tool that I enjoy working with. In combination with PSR-12 and PHPStan, you can no longer make gross mistakes. I am grateful for the burning hoops PHPStan has made me jump through.
Have you always wanted to work in an agency?
In my experience, digital agencies are so different in terms of their core quality that I wouldn't make such a sweeping statement. If we look at Blackbit, I see it as a rock in the industry. Not only does it have an outstanding and large team, but also exciting challenges in well-known customer projects.
What does your perfect working day look like?
The perfect day includes a good coffee, at least one challenge to overcome, satisfied customers in a meeting and a nice afternoon walk with the person sitting next to me.
Do you have a real weakness?
I... have... no... oh, look, a squirrel.
What is your key learning from everyday life: Agency work is not possible without ... ?
cookies! I actually always have some on my desk.
Do you consider your job more of a science or an art?
If magic isn't an option, then I'll choose science!
What's on your desk?
There's a coffee plant on my desk that feels particularly at home next to the coffee cup. There are also pictures of me and my husband and, last but not least, three little colorful ducks, under whose critical gaze I outgrow myself every day.
What do you do outside of work? What do you like to do in your free time?
My hobbies include traveling, cooking and gaming.
Your perfect Sunday - what does it look like?
Not getting up before 10 a.m., brunch with friends, sunshine and a coffee on the terrace, that's pretty much how I imagine it.
Which app would you never want to do without again?
TikTok - because my cooking and recipe bubble is simply awesome!
What else is on your personal bucket list?
A trip to the west coast of North America. And then an extensive tour from Vancouver via Seattle to San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Which three hashtags best describe your job?
#Challenge #InspiringTeam #Growth
What do you do when you're in a bad mood?
Simple: I have a coffee, after which the world usually looks a little different again.
What would be the title of your autobiography?
After 12,130 days, I found my happiness.
If you were a plant, what would it be?
I would be a gerbera with an orange flower.
What advice would you give your younger self?
What really matters in life is family and friends.
There's probably nothing more to add. Thank you for your time, we are happy that you are part of our Blackbit Family!
